Eastgate Church
Lighthouse Counselling first began as part of Eastgate Church. The church has supported us in a number of ways, including providing a venue for counselling sessions, providing IT and accounting support and offering us a grant which has meant that we can offer subsidised counselling to those who are on low incomes and may otherwise not be able to access counselling.
Eastgate also provided funding for our Healthcare project supporting healthcare workers who have worked through the covid pandemic. See below for further information about this project.
Healthcare workers’ project
Thanks to a generous grant from Eastgate church, we have been able to offer free counselling sessions to healthcare workers who have experienced the pressure and stress of working through the covid pandemic. We provide two hour wellbeing health-checks with one of our qualified counsellors which are an opportunity for those working in healthcare to talk about anything that might be affecting them. Gravesham Borough Council
We are partnering with the Gravesham Borough Council’s Rough Sleepers Initiative (RSI) Team to provide counselling for those who are sleeping rough on the streets of Gravesend, in supported living accommodation provided by the council or independent accommodation offered by the RSI team. For many of these clients, an opportunity to process difficult and traumatic life experiences enables them to make long lasting positive changes and find stability. This is a 3-year project meaning that those who need it the most can access long term therapeutic support in an environment which makes counselling accessible to them. Gravesham Sanctuary is also part of this project, providing a venue for some of the counselling sessions. Working in partnership means we can work together to help clients off the street, maintain a healthy lifestyle and maintain a tenancy.
Holy Trinity School
We have been working with Holy Trinity School over a number of years, providing counselling for staff members as part of the school's vision to prioritise wellbeing in the school community.
