What can we help with?
We know it’s not always easy to talk about difficult experiences.
This is why we provide a safe place where you can be supported by people trained to help you.
Counselling sessions
Counselling sessions take place either in a private counselling room at our Eastgate Building or online via an app like Zoom.
We can offer weekly or fortnightly sessions depending on your preference, at an agreed regular time. Each session will last 50 minutes and the cost is £50 per session.
We do offer subsidised counselling for those struggling financially. Please indicate on your initial consultation form that you would like to be considered for subsidised counselling if you are in financial need.
Online counselling
We offer online counselling because we believe it is an excellent way of increasing the accessibility of our services. We have supported clients from diverse geographical locations as well as those who find it difficult to attend appointments in person due to anxiety, physical disability or time constraints.
If you elect to receive support in this way, you will have an initial consultation over the telephone and then be connected with a counsellor who will offer you regular 50-minute appointments via Zoom or a similar app. Each session will last 50 minutes and the cost is £50 per session.
All our therapists have experience and training in providing online counselling. If you would like to request some online counselling please click here and indicate your preference on the application form.
Couples’ counselling
We offer counselling to couples who are looking for help in resolving conflict, greater relationship satisfaction or to gain insight into the relationship and find a way forward. Couples’ therapy isn’t only for those facing serious relationship difficulties, it can also be a space for those who want to invest in improving communication or working through a specific problem that has caused disconnection.
Couples’ therapy is available face to face or online, at a cost of £60 per session, with our couples’ therapists Lesley or Tracy.
Wellbeing Session
Wellbeing sessions are a one-off, 2 hour appointment with one of our qualified counsellors and a space for you to discuss anything that might be weighing on your mind.
Wellbeing sessions are based on the Single Session Therapy model where the counsellor will work with you to provide you with the help you need in that one session (with more help available if required). The counsellor will ask the client what they want to achieve from the Wellbeing session and work with them to focus on and accomplish this goal. Wellbeing sessions work well for those who may not want or be able to commit to more than one session due to time or financial pressures.
Wellbeing sessions are provided at a cost of £95.
Healthcare worker Wellbeing check
Are you a healthcare worker? Lighthouse Counselling have been given a grant to offer free wellbeing health checks to healthcare workers. This is a one-off 2 hour appointment with one of our qualified counsellors who will work with you to develop a plan to address areas of life affected by stress, such as diet, social interaction, sleep etc. It would also be an opportunity to debrief and take stock of the experience of working in healthcare during the Covid pandemic.
We want to be there for you by offering a safe, confidential space to talk about anything you are struggling with, even if it doesn’t seem directly related to your work.
The only charge for a wellbeing healthcheck is a one-off £10 fee at point of application to cover our admin costs, but if that is a problem, please let us know.
